As we enter Fall, I wanted to share what has been my favorite perfume for this passed Spring/Summer.
I typically don’t gravitate towards floral scents, as I find most of them overpowering with strong rose fragrances. However, I went to Sephora and spent quite a bit of time smelling perfumes and was actually drawn to a lovely floral scent.
I fell in love with the Jo Malone Poppy and Barley fragrance. This perfume has been the perfect lightweight scent for this Spring/Summer.

This perfume is easy to layer with other scents and lasts for several hours. It’s a floral scent, with hints of rose, violet, and blackcurrants. Shop below!
Review
When you first spray the perfume, you’re met with a bright and fruity aroma. Its gentle and floral and you can really pin point the mix of poppy, rose, and violet. As it dries down, the scent transforms into a calm earthy blend with soft musky undertones that’s coming from the barley. With this meticulous blend, this fragrance is perfect for early spring and summer. However, with the musky and earthy undertones, I could see this scent transitioning seamlessly into the early fall.
Keep in mind this perfume may not be for you’re not a fan of initial scents being too floral or sweet and the violet note specifically can come off powdery. I only apply a small amount, because with too much, I definitely get overwhelmed by the powdery smell. It’s not the longest wearing perfume I own, but it does last a majority of a work day in the office for me.
Honorable Mentions I Love
The YSL Black Opium if perfect for the evening. It’s described as edgy and daring. It has a strong aroma of fresh coffee and warm floral and sweet vanilla.
The Chanel Chance is something I wear when I go shopping in the summer. This scent is marketed with pink pepper, jasmine and amber patchouli. As it dries, it transitions to a more floral scent with a hint of spice without it being to overbearing.
The Ralph by Ralph Lauren is my most nostalgic perfume. For some reason this scent reminds me of my childhood. It’s described as fresh and fruity with notes of apple, mandarin, magnolia, and musk. This perfume works for everyday. It last a majority of my day and is one of my favorite perfumes in my collection.
